Steelhouse Appearance: 2012
Genre: Classic Rock / Hard Blues Rock
From: UK (South Wales/London roots)
Mothers Ruin are the kind of band that feels like an old leather jacket — worn in, tough, and cool as hell. Blending bluesy grooves, no-nonsense riffage, and a whiskey-soaked vocal edge, they brought a heavy nod to classic 70s rock with a modern punch.
They might not have made headlines, but those who caught them live know: this band could cook. Equal parts pub brawler and festival sleeper hit, Mothers Ruin were all killer, no filler — and their 2012 Steelhouse slot is still remembered by early-goers as a "you had to be there" moment.
Steelhouse was still new — but Mothers Ruin brought the kind of sweaty, pub-born energy that made the mountain feel like a backroom gig with 1,000 best mates. Their set wasn’t flashy — but it was solid. A meat-and-potatoes rock performance full of groove and gravel.
Forum Rating: ★★★★☆
Most Likely To: Make you order a whisky and turn the amp up to 11
Fans Of: Bad Company, Thin Lizzy, Cry of Love, Black Stone Cherry (early era)

“They came out, played like legends, and left the stage steaming. Old-school rockers who didn’t need tricks — just tone, power, and swagger.”
Overall Review
“Mothers Ruin didn’t try to reinvent the wheel. They rolled it right over your face, with chunky blues riffs and a vocalist that sounded like he'd gargled gravel and glory. A true unsung moment from Steelhouse’s formative years.”
