📍 Steelhouse Appearance: 2023
🎸 Genre: Psychedelic Rock / Classic Rock Revival / Blues Rock
🇨🇦 From: Montreal, Canada

🎤 Band Bio

The Damn Truth are the lovechild of 60s counterculture and 70s riff-rock, born in modern-day Canada. Known for their heart-on-sleeve lyrics, searing vocals, and aesthetic that screams lava lamp and leather jacket, they’ve carved out a space for authentic, soulful rock in the modern age.

Fronted by the spellbinding Lee-La Baum, the band blends Zeppelin-style swagger with modern fire. Whether it’s a stadium or a stormy Welsh mountain, they pour heart and sweat into every note.

👥 Band Members

  • 🎤 Lee-La Baum – Vocals / Guitar
  • 🎸 Tom Shemer – Guitar
  • 🧨 PY Letellier – Bass
  • 🥁 Dave Traina – Drums

💬 Fun Fact: Lee-La’s voice has been described as “Grace Slick reborn with a soul full of Janis Joplin” – and we’re not arguing.

💿 Album List

🌪️ Dear in the Headlights (2012)

The raw, rootsy debut – heavy on groove and packed with promise.

💔 Devilish Folk (2016)

Sleeker and bolder – songs that bite back and burn slow.
🎧 Try: White Lies, Heart Is Cold

🌈 Now or Nowhere (2021)

Produced by Bob Rock, this is where it all ignited. An explosive, emotional rollercoaster that put them on the international radar.
🎧 Try: This Is Who We Are Now, Only Love, Full On You

🔥 Their live performances bring these songs to life with such emotive force that even a downpour can’t dampen it.

🏔️ Steelhouse Festival – 2023 Performance

Set Vibe:
With the sun teasing the crowd after a soggy morning, The Damn Truth took the stage and changed the weather with their energy. Lee-La's vocals soared over the Valleys like a banshee with a message. They weren’t just performing – they were preaching, testifying, and baring souls.

Highlights:

  • Only Love – had the crowd swaying arm in arm
  • This Is Who We Are Now – a full-blown statement of unity
  • Lee-La’s barefoot, full-body performance style = spine-tingling

🧨 Overall Review

“The Damn Truth didn’t just play Steelhouse – they moved it. A band that brings guts, groove, and gravitas, and turns any stage into a revival. Consider us converted.”
